366 Bow Ties: Day 100!

Cheers!

A toast to the 100th Day of the increasingly ridiculous 366 Bow Ties shenanigan. The cocktail is called a Man 'O War, and that's what I must be if I am to persevere for the next 100 days!

Mrs Churchman and I skipped town for a post-Easter getaway. We stayed at the historic Dunhill Hotel in Uptown Charlotte, and enjoyed an evening on the town.

Gotta love this old cigarette machine in the Ritz-Carlton lobby. My friend Dr Ray, a Ritz regular, has told me that the Ritz has a phenomenal self-descripiton that sets the tone for their entire approach to business: "We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen." I love that.

The bow tie is a classic pink seersucker. Bill's Khakis M3s, white shirt, blue blazer, blue-with-white-edge Kent Wang pocket square (a Christmas gift from Mrs Churchman a couple years back)---all staples that allow the simple pink seersucker bow tie to do all the talking.

Maybe that motif of simple elegance is a good metaphor for our romantic getaway. Nothing too over-the-top fancy. Just classic stuff. A historic, though not an overly luxurious, hotel. Irish Pub. Ritz cocktail lounge. Breakfast at a farm-to-table restaurant. Walking. Sightseeing. Holding hands. Espresso at the 7th Street Market. A stop at the Secret Chocolatier.

Grab yourself Day 100 for the discounted price of $25. Every cent goes to help children in Haiti through our friends at MTW.
